AN EDO PERIOD DAISHO OF JAPANESE SWORDS,
the katana circa 1840, with signed tang, 29in. blade in fine condition with strong visible hamon and gilded habaki, the wakizashi with unsigned tang, two mekugi-ana, 21in. blade also in fine condition with clear hamon and white metal habaki, both swords with matching mounts including finely filigree-worked iron tsubas (slight damage to the one fitted to the wakizashi), pale cotton bindings over rayskin, patinated copper fittings and in dark brown lacquered sayas (small losses (kojiri absent from katana), the katana with gilded dragon kogai and a shira-saya
